This editorial policy describes how we approach writing, publishing, and updating content on this site. The goal is to be explicit about the standards we hold ourselves to so users can evaluate our content fairly.
Voice and tone
Our content is written in a clear, neutral, informative voice. We avoid moralizing about test results, avoid sensationalizing any specific score range, and avoid framing the test as anything other than what it is — a 100-year-old college bonding activity that became an internet cultural phenomenon.
We don't write clickbait. Article titles describe what's actually in the article. Statistics in headlines match statistics in body copy. There are no "you'll never believe what your score means" framings on this site, and there never will be.
Accuracy and corrections
Every factual claim on the site is either directly supported by a citable source or clearly framed as our interpretation. When we get something wrong, we correct it — visibly, with a note about the correction where significant.
If you spot an error, please email the contact address on our contact page. We typically respond to error reports within a few days and update content within a week or two depending on complexity.
What we won't publish
Content that shames test-takers. No score is presented as bad, embarrassing, or worthy of judgment. We won't publish content framing low scores as moral failings or high scores as evidence of being out of touch.
Sexualized content. The test asks about adult themes, and we discuss those themes clinically and clearly when relevant. We don't write content designed to titillate, and we don't include explicit imagery of any kind.
False statistics. Every percentage, average, or demographic claim we make is sourced from real data. If we don't have data to support a claim, we either don't make the claim or we flag it as our interpretation rather than as fact.
Compatibility advice. We don't write content telling people whether their score gap with a partner is good or bad. Score gaps don't predict relationship compatibility, and we won't pretend they do.
Diagnostic claims. The Rice Purity Test isn't a diagnostic tool. Our content never suggests scores indicate anything about psychological conditions, mental health states, or anything else that would be the domain of a qualified professional.
Partnerships and sponsored content
If we ever publish sponsored content, partnerships, or affiliate links, they will be clearly labeled as such. We will not publish sponsored content that contradicts the editorial standards outlined on this page. We will not accept partnerships that require us to misrepresent the test or pressure readers into specific score interpretations.
Currently the site has no sponsored content of any kind. Monetization is through standard non-intrusive advertising (e.g., Google AdSense) and any future affiliate relationships will be flagged in this section when active.
Comments and user-generated content
The site doesn't currently host comments, user reviews, or other user-generated content. If we add these features in the future, we'll add a moderation policy section here. For now, the only user-generated artifacts on the site are shared score URLs, which contain only a number and expire after 14 days.
Updates to this policy
We'll update this policy as the site evolves. Significant changes will be noted with a "last updated" date. Continuing to use the site after policy updates indicates acceptance of the updated standards.
