This privacy policy describes how Rice Purity Test handles information when you use this site. The short version: we collect almost nothing, store almost nothing, and never sell anything. The long version is below.
Test answers and scores
When you take the Rice Purity Test on this site, your answers exist only in your browser. They are never sent to our servers. We don't run a database of scores. We don't have a record of what any individual user has checked or unchecked. When you close the tab, your answers disappear from our awareness completely because they were never in our awareness to begin with.
If you choose to share your score, a temporary URL is created containing only your final score number — never your individual answers. The URL automatically expires after 14 days. We don't track who shared what or who viewed what shared link.
What we do collect
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs basic information about server requests: IP address, browser type, page accessed, and timestamp. This is standard server log data used for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analytics. We don't tie this data to specific users, don't use it to build profiles, and don't share it.
If we run analytics (Google Analytics or a similar tool), aggregate traffic data about how the site is used — which pages get visited, roughly where visitors come from geographically, what devices they use — is collected by the analytics provider. This data is anonymized and aggregated; it doesn't identify individual users.
Cookies
This site uses minimal cookies, primarily for technical purposes like remembering your dark/light mode preference. We don't use tracking cookies, behavioral advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking technologies.
If we run advertising (Google AdSense or similar), the ad network may set its own cookies for ad personalization and frequency capping. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your browser settings or the ad network's opt-out tools.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the site:
- Vercel for hosting (automatic server logs, no direct user data)
- Google Fonts for fonts (Google may log font requests; this is a standard CDN interaction)
- Google AdSense (if active) for advertising — may set cookies and access standard ad-related data
- Google Analytics (if active) for aggregate traffic analytics — anonymized usage data only
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Their handling of data is governed by their policies, not ours.
Children
This site is intended for users 18 years of age and older. The full Rice Purity Test contains explicit themes that aren't appropriate for younger users. We offer an age-appropriate teen variation that filters out the heaviest items. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Because we don't collect personally identifying information about users, the practical implications of GDPR and CCPA are limited for this site — there's almost no data to request, delete, or correct. That said, if you're located in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with privacy regulations, you have certain rights under those regulations:
- The right to know what data we have about you
- The right to request deletion of any data we have
- The right to opt out of the sale of your data
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights
Contact us at the address in our contact page to exercise any of these rights. Because we don't collect personal data, most of these requests will result in us confirming we have nothing to delete or correct.
Data retention
Server logs are typically retained by our hosting provider for 30–90 days for security monitoring purposes, after which they're automatically deleted. Aggregate analytics data may be retained longer but is not associated with individual users. Shared score URLs expire after 14 days regardless of any other factor.
Changes to this policy
If we update this privacy policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated through a notice on the site. Continuing to use the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
