These Terms of Service govern your use of the Rice Purity Test site. By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. The terms are deliberately simple — there's not a lot of legal complexity in a site that hosts a free quiz.
Use of the site
You may use this site for personal, non-commercial purposes — to take the test, read the content, and share your score with friends. You may not scrape the site at scale, run automated bots against it, attempt to disrupt service for other users, or use the site in ways that violate any applicable laws.
You must be 18 years of age or older to take the standard version of the test. The test contains explicit themes that aren't appropriate for minors. We offer an age-appropriate teen variation for users under 18.
Content ownership
The site's content — articles, design, code, and structure — is original work by us, with the exception of the underlying 100- question Rice Purity Test format itself, which is in the public domain (the original 1924 Rice Thresher version) and has been modified by countless contributors over the past century. We don't claim ownership of the test format. We do claim ownership of our specific implementation, design, content, and the way we present and interpret the test.
You may share your individual test score and link to the site. You may not republish our content (articles, score interpretations, etc.) without permission.
Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the site will always be available, that all features will work perfectly, or that the content will be free from errors. The Rice Purity Test isn't a clinical instrument, and our score interpretations aren't professional advice of any kind.
Limitation of liability
We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site. This is a free quiz site. The most that should ever happen is you take a quiz and get a number. If anything else happens, we haven't promised anything beyond providing the site and aren't responsible for downstream consequences.
No affiliation with Rice University
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Rice University or the Rice Thresher. The Rice University name appears on this site only in reference to the historical origin of the test format. We are an independent site building on a public-domain test format with our own modernizations and original content.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. The "last updated" date will reflect any changes. Continuing to use the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which the site is operated. Any disputes that arise from your use of the site will be handled according to those laws.
